Yarring Farm Winery

Our first winery was Yarring Farm. This was bought in the early 1980’s by Swiss people after it’d been vacant for almost 60 years. Originally they intended to build orchards but then they figured out that real estate prices skyrocketed and wine was doing better, anyhow.

At Yarring Farm we went through the technique of tasting and what to look for. Nothing new to report there, except that the flies were WICKED. Those little biting ones chased us away from every winery all day long.

While we were there, we found out that a 2nd winery we were to visit had closed, staff had been evacuated and our lunch stop would be changed. You could smell the smoke in the air.
