A restaurant called Quan 88 was recommended to us, so we decided to try that. We went with another couchsurfing friend named Michael and he agreed it was a pretty good restaurant. The one downside was there was no wine list.
A conclusion we came to is that we could solve America (and Australia’s) obesity problem with one simple change nationwide – everyone has to eat with chopsticks. By the time you’re halfway through the dish (a) you’re exhausted and (b) you’re full. Problem solved.
Michael was an interesting 20-something young man. He very much reflects a nation in change. His parents migrated from Brighton (AU) to Vancover, British Columbia, Canada. He has 2 sisters that have both moved to other cities as well, all for job / career issues.
The transient nature of people here seems to tie in with what EB had discovered – in Perth (Out West), the hospitals have problems with “Salary Miners” – people who come there just to get high paying jobs in the mines. The hospitals can’t keep service workers because they can’t compete with the "miner" jobs that pay $100K+ annually.
