Toilets

You wouldn’t think that two middle aged men would need directions on the toilets, but then again, you haven’t seen anything like this. They’re not like the Italian “squat and hope” system we encountered near the Vatican, but instead they’re stainless steel, just big troughs like ball fields used to have. The puzzling part is that there’s this metal grid in the bottom of it – is that to stand on? To catch your cell phone when you drop it? Or for some other reason we haven’t figured out yet?

All “regular” toilets, like in the hotels, etc., look very similar to US toilets. They have a smaller “water spot” than we’re used to (yes, that’s what it’s really called), and they’re under pressure, resulting in a WHOOSH when you push the button – and there’s usually 2 buttons, 1 for #1 which results in a lower water flow and 1 for #2, which goes full throttle.
